Ordering Blinds and Shades Online - Quick Checklist

For your convenience, here is a "Quick Checklist" to go through when you're ordering your new blinds and shades online.

The "Quick Checklist" below is a brief summary of important steps to follow to make sure your order arrives on your doostep just the way you want it.

Take your time to go through the steps as you're filling out your order forms.

Step 1:

a)    Choose blinds and shades that are practical, match your home décor, and fit your budget.

Step 2:

a)    Decide if an outside or inside mount fits your windows. Another type of installation, a side-mount, suits partial window height installs.

b)    For inside-mount installations, check manufacturer’s minimum window sill depth to make sure there’s enough mounting surface for the holding brackets.
Watch for mullion-divided windows because they narrow the mounting surface by protruding into the window sill.

c)    Take the time to measure for your new blinds.
Measure once and re-measure to double check your numbers.
Record WIDTH first – HEIGHT second (round numbers to the nearest 1/8 of an inch)

Note: Mark “ IM” or “OM” – Inside Mount or Outside Mount for each item on your list because… (manufacturer takes deductions off your measurements for inside-mount installations to ensure blinds or shades go smoothly up and down without friction or binding)

Step 3:

Controls:

Do you want corded or cordless blinds or shades?
Do you need your pull cords or chains to be on the RIGHT or LEFT?
Do you need control cords to be extra long so that you can reach them easily any time while operating the shades? 
(Remember-most pull cords change length as a blind goes up and down.)
Do you want wand tilt or cord tilt (if available) – for horizontal blinds?
Is there an option to have a continuous-loop control with the shades you want?
Do you want top-down bottom-up option with your shades?
 

Extras:

Do you want chain and weights or sewn-in weights with your vertical blinds?
Do you need center-split, right or left stack with your vertical blinds?
Do you need extra mounting brackets?
Do you want an add-on privacy or blackout liner with your shades?
Do you need hold-down brackets for door installations?
Do you need extra plastic clips for a valance attachment to the headrail (if available)?
