Cellular Shades With A Double Purpose Feature
Cellular shades or Pleated Shades come out with many choices of fabric, colors, textures, add-on layers, and controls.
But did you know you can ask for a double-fabric feature?
What does that mean? To give you an idea, glance over the pictures below.

| Dual Cellular Shades -Two Materials – One Shade |
What you see is a cellular shade in a window by the main house entrance.
The customer asked for a light filtering fabric with dual-purpose.
1. Keep some view to the outside with a layer of sheer fabric (daytime)
2. Provide a medium-degree privacy layer (evenings and nights with the in-house lights on)
The upper (whitish) layer of sheer fabric takes care of the first need. The lower (brownish) one serves the second purpose.

| A Detail Of Dual Cellular Shades – Notice The Movable Back-To-Back Rail Between The Two Fabrics |
In the detail above, you can see how they carried out making the double-purpose cellular shades.
The cellular shades you see are simply window shades as you’d expect plus two extra steps. The first extra step adds a top down-bottom up alternative. The second one adds the sheer fabric between the top headrail and the back-to-back moving rail (the bar dividing the two shade materials).
Noticed the two control cords on the sides of the shades?
They control the bottom (R) and the back-to-back (L) moving rails. The two clutches within the headrail allow for fine control of both moving rails where you can stop them anywhere in the window (to vary the incoming light and view anytime you want to).

The pictured example showcases cellular shades made into dual-purpose window shades. The same preference is available for pleated shades as well (if that’s what you’d like).
