Woven Wood Shades On French Doors Example
A short while ago we finished an installation of woven wood shades for a customer. The shades looked pleasant and fit the setting beautifully.
Since there are many people inquiring about what woven wood shades would look like on French doors, we thought this example would give you a visual of what to expect.

A Woven Wood Blind - An Outside Mount |
The woven wood shades hang as an outside mount over a wooden window frame made of knotted pine. Notice the edge of the shade is “naturally” wavy. The width of the shade matches flush with the knotted pinewood casing (notice the arrow).
Tip
:For outside mounts like that, you can always go an inch or two wider. If you need to cover your window casing and want to overlap it a tad, add to your width measurement an extra inch or inches you’d like. The factory will omit taking deductions for these as they are an outside mount.

| Woven Wood Shades - Extra Liner Add-On |
Don’t they look stunning in the all-wood background?
The woven wood shades are mounted as an outside mount right above where the window ends at the top. The arrows are pointing to the sides that reveal small gaps of light. If you are particular about any light showing alongside the shades, go about two inches wider than the exact measurement of the window width. Doing so is especially important if the French doors are in a main bedroom (like in our example).

| Lined Woven Wood Shades - French Doors (Outside Look) |
Here, you’ve got the same French doors from the outside. Notice the added fabric liner. The arrows are now pointing to areas where the liner edges reveal the woven wood shades material. Some find it unsightly; others find the overall natural look delightful.
Here again, if you are a detail-oriented person, you can see that a couple of extra inches of width would provide a cleaner overlap coverage of the window area along the sides.
