Wood Blinds And Faux Wood Blinds Cool Tip

If you've had a chance to look at the comparison between wood blinds and faux wood blinds, you know that each kind has features to brag about. And rightly so. Because of their natural look and feel, both kinds of blinds deliver a well- fitting window covering element to the front-of-the-house windows, study rooms, and to windows with a great view (since you can control the tilt of the slats).

There is one important point about wood blinds and faux wood blinds to keep in mind.

First, glance at the picture below …

A Wood Blind - An Inside Mount - Stacked
A 2" Real Wood Blind - An Inside Mount (with a stack of slats covering 9 3/8" of
the window view)

Guessed what the two kinds of blinds have in common?
Yup. Its the way they stack inside the window. The picture above shows one of the 2" wood blinds. Its height of 69 1/2" stacks at the window top over a 9 3/8" distance (while covering some of the view).

Next, guess what would 1"-wide slats do in the same window. Right again!
Yes, for 1"-slat wood blinds or faux wood blinds, the stacking distance doubles (because twice as many slats of the same thickness are needed to cover the same height of the window). In other words, the previous example of a 9 3/8" stack would DOUBLE using 1" slats.

Another not-so-obvious point about 1" wood or faux wood blinds: They give you a more obstructed view through your window than their 2" "cousins" would. The reason, again, is that twice as many slats are needed to cover the window. Therefore, twice as many slats "stand" in your view when they tilt open.

So, if you are considering wood blinds or faux wood blinds for an inside mount in your windows, the tip above may help you decide if one-inch or two-inch slats will be your ultimate choice.
