Installing Mini Blinds Quickly

Take a quick look at this simple installation of a 1 3/8" slat-width metal mini blind …

First, the brackets that came with the blind …

If you are wondering how they attach to the headrail, here's another picture …

Now, let's fasten the brackets to the window frame, minding the flush depth for the blind. As you can see in the picture above, the front of the left bracket is just about aligned with the front of the headrail in the locked-in position. That means where you mount the front of the bracket, that's where the front of the headrail will be. Like so …

the front of the headrail will be aligned

If you have a window like this one (with a couple of mullions protruding into the sill), use them to set the maximum depth for the brackets.

(In this case, take a bracket and align its back to the mullion first.
Where the front of the bracket ends up, that's going to be
the maximum depth for ALL the brackets in the window. In this
case, the front of the brackets got pushed about 1/4" forward
as compared to the example above.)
 Watch out for 'em mullions … and other "protrusions" that
can interfere with your blind installation.)

Okay, time to hang the blind …

Then, hang the edge of the headrail onto their front part.
While keeping the front edge on the brackets, push the back
of the headrail up until you hear the brackets lock.)

Done? Well, almost. Let the blind down, check the slats, the tilting function and pull the blind up again.
If everything checks out - now you are done hanging your mini blinds!
