How To Install An Arch Window Blind

Today's short how-to tutorial shows you a speedy way to install an arch window blind.

In our example, you’ll see we have pleated shades custom made for a half-moon window with a “little twist”.

Comfy?

Here, we have a half-round window the arch blind will fit into. It sits right above rectangular windows covered with wood blinds. The half-moon window in the picture has a "little twist" – there’s no bottom sill to attach the mounting brackets to.
How do we solve that?

A short piece of baseboard, window-casing wood strip does the trick. If we had a bottom sill available, the brackets would mount right on it. Since we need to build one up, a short strip of wood will do.

The mounting brackets attach right on the wood piece. Another short flat piece of hardware mounts at each end.

TIP: (Pre-drill the screw holes for the hardware to prevent the wood strip from splitting.) The side metal strips will hold the built-up wooden support in place.

Test-fit the arch blind to make sure everything is aligned properly.

Now, assemble the arch blind by sliding the free “quarter” into the rail (towards the wooden button in the middle of the rail).

About three supplied plastic clips will hold the fan of the arch blind in place.

Evenly space the clips in the arch and attach them to the round top sill using small screws.

The see-through clips are small and not easily seen; they almost blend in by reflecting the color of the pleated fabric.

Almost done – just take a final look. Go ahead …
