| Hobbled Roman Shades As An Outside Mount On A Patio Door |
Rich-looking fabric hobbled roman shades on a patio door.
The installation called for a classic outside mount on a door. The frame of the door was plastic, but there was a hard metal "surprise layer" below to drill through before the bracket-holding screws went in.
Phew!
Got it!
It worked similarly on the windows, where two metal brackets in each one held the narrow headrail securely in place.

| Two Dining Room Windows With Roman Shades - Hobbled (Notice how narrow and unobtrusive the headrails are.) |
These beauties were manufactured by Levolor ™.
The headrails are the very same ones they use for their cellular shades.
They have a cord-clutch control that's very easy to use.
Another material roman shades have their headrails made of is wood. The clutch system on these is optional. Usually, roman shades with wooden headrails have a simple pull cord that needs a cord cleat attached to the window frame. The cleat is then used to wind the pull cord around to hold the bottom rail of the shade in place.
Wooden headrail roman shades typically need right-angled brackets for outside mount installations - like in this example of roman shades installation.
