Fabric Vertical Blinds In A Wide Family Window
Family room windows are often the subject of long discussions about what to use for them as window coverings.
- There’s a wide variety of matching fabrics and colors with an existing room décor.
- Vertical blinds are versatile in controlling the light, view and privacy by using two controls – a tilt chain (to rotate the vanes) and the gathering cord loop (to stack vanes on either, or both ends of the headrail).
- The narrow headrail can be covered by a matching valance (comes with the order if you wish), or by a homemade fabric sleeve valance of choice.
- You can order the vanes to stack left, right, or a center split (vanes gather on both ends) – away from your window view (if there’s room, add in extra width for the stack when measuring).
- Vertical blinds on a single headrail can cover multiple windows like in this example below …take a look …

A triple-section family room window gets a new window covering – fabric vertical blinds – an outside mount right above the window casing.

A Detail Of How The Weights And Chains Go Together |
The customer ordered weights and chains for the bottom vane pockets. That’s a choice you may prefer, too. Another one (and that’s the one we like) are sewn-in weights. What you get is the same effect, but the “falling-out weights and tangled chains” never bother you because the weights are neatly tucked away and sewn in the pockets of the vanes (a great idea if children or pets are going to be around the vanes a lot).

TIP:
The top of ALL the vanes need to face one-way. When you are inserting yours into the headrail riders, make sure to have the seams face the same direction (regardless of right, left, or center split controls arrangement).
Why?
Because when you pull and tilt them closed, some of the tops will show the seams, some won’t. Besides that, the front of each vane may have a slightly different finish than the back, creating an unsightly and uneven appearance.

| Ahhh. At Last There's The Smell Of New, Quality Vertical Blinds In The House! |
Voila!
Three windows-in-one are dressed up at last. Fabric vertical blinds did the trick. Notice the difference between the new “kids on the block” and the shabby-looking “economy” woven wood shades next to it (on the left).
