Café-Style Wood Shutters For A View Window Above A Bathtub
Interior Wood Shutters, or Plantation Wood Shutters, spruce up any window in a house. That’s right. They dress up any windows in a naturally pleasing, high-end, and you may also say, “pricey” manner.
The choice is yours.
If you want the high-end look, almost anything is possible for custom-made wood shutters to blend with an existing home decor.
The price for real wood shutters hovers, as you’d expect, on the higher end of the scale.

If you must have shutters, but in no way are you going to spend a fortune, what can you do?
You may have guessed it.
But if not, here’s the answer.
Check out faux wood shutters.
They will pleasantly surprise you with a more “digestible” price tag. Paying from 20-40% less than for real wood shutters may nicely shock you. Now the price drop suddenly makes them affordable, doesn’t it?
Besides the price, faux wood interior shutters stand above wood shutters with better hardiness against daily abuse in high traffic areas, high temperatures, and high moisture (even direct contact with water).
Can interior wood shutters fit a room decor in a master-bathroom window? Say, you want to keep the view, control the incoming light, keep the privacy, and you worry a bit about the higher moisture content in a bathroom air.
We’ve installed a good number of real wood shutters in bathrooms over the years. Some of them were full-window, inside-mount wood shutters; some covered the bathroom windows only partially. The “shorter-than-the-full- window-height” shutters are called café-style interior shutters.
As much as we thought (with the first installation) the higher-moisture bathroom room air would affect the wood shutters, we haven’t seen it yet. And a few of them have been in place for almost a decade.
We must say, though, they were all made of high-quality wood, came pre-finished, and none of them have been in a direct contact with water.
As an example, and perhaps to throw a few ideas your way, take a look at the following two pictures.

A large master bathroom with a view window has a soaker tub right below the window panes. A temporary rod-and-curtain fix did the job of providing some privacy for the customers.
But now, look at this picture …

Do you see the difference real wood shutters can make? The café-style (partial-window height), left and right panels provide a window treatment that fits the room décor, and is practical as well.
The café-style allows for light to come in. The louvers tilt and control the incoming light and the view. Both panels have hinges and open fully to the sides. Two magnets keep them flush with the window frame in a closed position.
Got an idea? Great!
Otherwise, that’s it for this short note. Now, if you wish, check out the details about how to install interior wood shutters.
