Roller Shades seem to be the “secret weapon” for many customers who want to cover their tall windows with effective window coverings sans losing any of the view.
In our neck of the woods, it’s the mountains and rich evergreens painting the ever-changing view. It over and over again takes your breath away, leaving you in an absolute state of wonder and admiration.
So, how can you keep the view while stopping the UV rays and heat from damaging your hardwood floor, furniture, and wall artifacts?
For the two following customers, motorized roller shades have done an excellent job in providing both.
Let’s take a look at what they’ve done using remote-control motorized roller shades.

Cassette-Covered Motorized Roller Shades
(The upper arrow points to a 6-AA-cell, long-life power pack>
the lower arrow's pointing to the robust mounting brackets) |
The first example features fully-covered-by-a-metal-casing roller shades. The headrail (or the “roller part”) is hidden from view by a black metal cassette. It’s an inside-mount application. The sturdy mounting brackets come with the order.
The material chosen for these roller shades is a black sunscreen weave. It’s possible to ask for a “heavier” or “lighter” weave sunscreen materials.
The former shields more and provides less view, while the latter does the opposite.

| The Mounting Brackets Are In Place – An Inside Mount |
The roller shades will eventually snap into these inside-mounted brackets. We moved the brackets about ½” forward from the back of the window casing to accommodate the power pack “velcroed” to the back of each roller shade box (especially to have room for hands when changing the batteries later on).

There’s the final look!
The cassettes are up. A single hand-held remote control controls all four roller shades (after a simple programming procedure).

Four UV Foil Motorized Roller Shades In 20 Feet plus
Family Room Windows – An Inside Mount |
These roller shades are a little bit different.
Firstly, they have no bulky cassettes around the roller headrails themselves.
Secondly, the roller shade material is a thin, UV-blocking foil (notice how little space the roller shades take up at the tops of the tallest windows).

Pack Mounted Behind The Shades |
The roller shades mount on the inside of the window frame using L & R mounting brackets. The infrared-control receivers are quite small and virtually unobtrusive. For the roller shades on the left side of the windows, they are on the left. They are on the right side on the ones covering the windows on the right.
Again, a single infrared remote helps control the roller shades from the floor below.
When they go up and down – they are fairly quiet and do sound cool

… Just Like A Camera Lens Filter |
There we go.
Two roller shades on each side of the family room window remotely controlled to roll up and down (… as you can also see the roller shades can stop at any window height if you wish).
As an economical alternative, a simple metal or plastic bead chain can be ordered instead of the remote control option.
