Two On One Headrail Woven Wood Shades Over Patio Door

If you ever wanted to get woven wood shades for your sliding patio door, but didn't have a good picture of what it would look like, here's a short note with a couple of pics.

Woven Wood Shades (a.k.a. matchstick shades, bamboo window shades or blinds) have increased in popularity over the last few years thanks to the technology advances, new materials availability and an increased customer demand for natural fiber weaves.

The customer who ordered these woven wood shades had four points in mind:

shades made out of natural materials
a single headrail with two shades on it (a separate control for each)
maintain some view / filter light while shades are down
non-clutch, smooth operating mechanism

And thats exactly what she received.

Her custom-made woven wood shades came according to her specifications. The natural fibers (including the matching valance) fused with the mountain-look home decor perfectly. The shades blended with the existing real wood shutters (that were in the kitchen & front room windows).

As you can see in the picture, a single headrail (with a matching valance) holds both the left & right sides of the shades.

Since maintaining privacy was less important than keeping some of the view during sunny days, the customer opted for non-lined shades instead. Also, when the patio door is open and the shades are down, the air can move through them easier – without flapping or balooning.

Woven wood shades have the option to come either with a classic clutch, or with a smoother, continuous-chain control. (You can see the right top side of the shades; the "white spot" below the valance is the smooth-rolling lifting and lowering control. Personally, we like it more than a clutch-and-pull-cords control.)
