Blackout Cellular Shades With Remote Control
If you want Cellular Shades for your basement media room windows and they'd be reachable only from a chair or a small step ladder, here is what you can do …
1.
You can order cellular shades with cord controls long enough so you can reach them comfortably.
(Remember this small, yet important step, when filling out your order form
.
2.
If the basement window is exposed to the "sunny" side and a lot of light gets through it, definitely get an add-on blackout liner (just as you probably would for a master bedroom or a nursery room).
3.
Think about a remote control option cellular blinds can have (if you prefer it).
Never seen what remote-control cellular shades look like?
Take a look right now.

| Blackout Cellular Shades – A Battery-Powered Remote Control |
As you can see in the picture, the cellular shades look a bit unusual with the attached battery pack to the back of the headrail. A thin wire lead coming out from the pack attaches to the electric motor housed by the headrail. The lifting (wind & unwind) reels get powered by the motor. The action is triggered from a hand-held remote control (similar to a common small TV or stereo control).

When a button is pushed, the signal from the hand-held control travels to the thin antenna that's loosely hanging from the back of the electric motor. The red arrow's pointing to the antenna.

In the picture above, you can see the blackout cellular shades in the "down" position. Except the small light gaps along the sides, the cellular shades and the add-on blackout perform their magic in keeping the TV screen free of light shadows, or excessive sun light throughout the day.
